How does one possibly go through valentine’s Day without the beloved candy hearts that spark so much conversation?
You might remember Necco, the company that makes Sweethearts, went out of business last year.
It wasn’t just the Sweethearts either… Mary Janes, Clark Bars, Necco Wafers – all gone.
Or so we thought.
Round Hill Investments bought Necco who then sold it to Spangler Candy Co. in September of 2018. But alas, 5 months was not enough time to produce a large number of Sweethearts. Therefor, no Sweethearts , with their “cutie pie” and “kiss me” statements will be available this year. WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO? How can i effectively tell my boyfriend “i <3 u" ??
Relax- they'll be back next year. The CEO of Spangler Candy Co., Kirk Vashaw said "We're looking forward to the relaunch of Sweethearts for the 2020 Valentine's Day Season." ( Which, given history on how early holidays creep up, should start right around Halloween this year)
You CAN still get them this year, but it will cost you. Amazon has boxes starting at $9.
They'll probably taste like they were from 3 years ago. That means they're fresh.
