Nicki Minaj has entered New York’s governor’s race with strong criticism of Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul, prompting a public response just days before the November 3 election.
In an October 28 post on X, Minaj called Hochul an “evil woman” and urged voters to support Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman. The rapper accused the governor of failing to condemn wrongdoing and questioned her leadership.
Hochul responded during a campaign appearance in Albany, suggesting Minaj spend less time online and stop attending President Donald Trump’s rallies, which she said were negatively influencing the rapper’s thinking.
Minaj also revisited Hochul’s controversial 2024 comments about Black children in the Bronx and their familiarity with computers. The governor previously apologized for those remarks.
The exchange reflects Minaj’s growing involvement in Republican politics. She recently appeared alongside Trump at a campaign rally in Michigan and has publicly encouraged support for Republican candidates.
Interestingly, Minaj supported Hochul’s campaign for lieutenant governor in 2018, marking a significant change in their political relationship.
