The Canadian musician was reportedly in the prison yard of California Correctional Institution when he was stabbed, though details of the attack and its motive remain unclear. Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2023 after being convicted on three felony counts related to the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
