FireAid, the all-star benefit concert held in January that raised $100 million for Los Angeles wildfire relief, issued an official statement on Saturday (July 26) addressing and disputing misinformation about the distribution of funds. The event, featuring top artists like Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Green Day, Olivia Rodrigo, a surprise Nirvana reunion, and many others, drew over 50 million viewers and raised money from ticket sales, merchandise, sponsorships, and donations. FireAid has already disbursed $75 million in two rounds of grants, with the remaining $25 million expected to be distributed by the end of 2025. “There has been an increasing amount of misinformation being shared online about the distribution of FireAid funds,” reads the statement from event organizers. “We want to address concerns and be certain that Angelenos and the thousands of donors who generously contributed have a transparent view into how FireAid is putting their dollars to work.” The organization revealed that detailed grant information is publicly available on FireAid’s website, with a full audit planned for December 2025.
